What is a piston seal?

Piston seals are mainly used in hydraulic cylinders to seal pressurized fluids between the piston and the bore. They allow radial compression. Its function is to keep the fluids in the chamber so as not to reduce the volumetric efficiency of the pump. This helps ensure optimal performance and maximum system reliability. These gaskets are mainly offered in nitrile (NBR) or polyurethane (PU). Its destination can be hydraulic or pneumatic.

How to measure a piston seal?

To identify the piston seal necessary for your assembly, you must take these 3 dimensions:

  • The inner diameter of its seal corresponds to the outer diameter of its stem.
  • The outside diameter of your seal corresponds to the inside diameter of your barrel.
  • The thickness of your seal corresponds to the thickness/space available at the bottom of the groove.
